CPMH PAC

June 23, 2010
David Iverson, MD, Chair

After the passage of an historic health care reform bill, coupled with the current fiscal challenges faced by federal, state, and local governments generated by the recent economic crisis, the 2010 election cycle could be described as tumultuous. Election season is again upon us—and Colorado and national politics are as riveting as ever.

Enactment of medical marijuana and health care reform legislation, efforts to change the statutes concerning medical malpractice and confidentiality, criminalization, veterans issues, bed closures, and Crisis Centers—all of these issues will affect our practice landscapes. What happens with them will impact what happens to you and your patients.

Here is your chance to make a difference on these and other critical issues—by donating to CPMH PAC.

CPMH PAC promotes the legislative goals of Colorado psychiatrists and our patients. We do this by educating candidates about mental illness and by making financial contributions to candidates who are supportive of our positions and goals. Because of recent campaign finance reforms, contributors like us now carry more clout.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Mounting our campaign requires hard work, time, and a significant amount of funding. Your investment of money and/or time is critical in making your voice heard on the issues. We are proud to report that in the last major election, CPMH PAC supported candidates won over 90% of their contests. Members of CPMH PAC are regularly sought out to testify before our legislature on bills that affect mental health care. We must continue this fine record.

Contributing to CPMH PAC is an active contribution to the healthy future of mental health care in Colorado. The time has never been better for us to act as one.

If you would like to become involved with our PAC or on the CPS Legislative Committee, or to receive regular legislative updates throughout the session, please contact our office.
